Become one with your surroundings

Rue du Chateau is off the beaten track, with only very minor roads nearby, but still only 15 minutes drive to shops.

2021 is our fourth year - we welcome back returning campers and say hello to new ones!

With our pitches by the river, choose a perfect spot to sit by the edge of the water, among the wild primroses, where you'll find peace and tranquillity listening to the river song.

Or why not try some wild swimming, though we're not responsible for the temperature! (or for any injuries related to this sport!).  Hot water bottles and towels to warm back up are available on request.

Learn more about the campsite here.
All pitches are a short walk away from the main farm, and those dark night skies and sparkling stars are truly awe inspiring to see.

The site offers only very basic facilities - that's no showers, no electric hook ups and limited or no mobile phone reception depending on your network, for a real outdoors escapism experience.

Make friends with the locals

Our small farm is home to sheep, a dog, ducks and two ponies. The ponies are a Gypsy Cob called Murphy and a Miniature Shetland called Teesh, they are very inquisitive, love attention and trying to help, though please don't feed them no matter how much they ask!

The wild ducks have had successful hatches for a few years now and it is wonderful to watch them waddling from the pond to the river and swimming about early in the year.

The area is home to red squirrel, deer, birds of prey, hare, badger, fox. frogs, newt and more. With patience, quietness and a bit of luck, the landscape will begin to reveal its hidden secrets.

Fees
We offer a flat rate for our Tent Pitches and Small Campervans of £10.00 per adult £5 per child per night. Under 5's free.

Go Cycling!

We are pleased to be able to offer a cycle hire service, through a partnership with Reiver Cycle Hire Limited. What better way to experience the country roads and miles of forest tracks, than by bike?  We have a range of hybrids, mountain bikes in various sizes, and my favourite, our showstopping vintage tandem. More info can be found here.

Go for breakfast!

It's only the best bacon roll on the Border!  Pay a visit to the Reiver's View Snack Van on the A68 Carter Bar layby. That sits right on the Scottish-English Border. You may see it leaving the farm in the mornings to tootle up the hill to the Borderline. Or for a touch of the real Scottish flavour, try a Wild Venison burger or a Spicy Pheasant burger. The Border Piper sells Scottish souvenirs, and the view is fantastic. About 20 minutes by car en route to Newcastle.
